Our impact

We are deeply committed to reducing our environmental footprint. We implement state-of-the-art sustainable practices and technologies, actively working towards minimizing our impact on the planet. This dedication to environmental stewardship is at the core of our operational philosophy, reflecting our responsibility towards a sustainable future.

Decarbonization three key pillars

Our decarbonization efforts are divided into three key areas corresponding to our business units: Logistics, Warehouses, and Administrative Offices. In 2022, we began calculating our carbon footprint, using 2021 as our baseline year for future initiatives.

Our goal is to reduce emissions measured in CO2e per tkm by 10 % in 2025 compared to 2021 baseline.

To achieve this target, we will ensure rigorous truck loading and route planning to reduce empty miles.

We are also inspiring our subcontractors to improve EURO emissions standards.

We plan to test the first zero emission truck in real day-to-day operations.

Our goal is to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 10 % per square meter area of our warehouses by 2025 compared to 2021 baseline.

We are experimenting with replacing disposable plastics with bio-solutions.

In 2022 we have introduced numerous solutions in the realm of circular economy in warehousing. Additionally, we continue to operate with proven solutions for the repair of EPAL pallets.

We are setting up initiatives and operating models that will:

Calculate the full carbon footprint from 2021-2022.

Set goals according to SBTI principles for all subsidiaries.

Reduce the environmental impact of our administrative buildings.

Encourage our employees to become more proactive and environmentally aware.

GREENER LOGISTICS

At HOPI we are aware of our contribution to the emissions produced by transport. Our goal is to reduce our total consumption by renewing our fleet and properly maintaining our vehicles. In 2022, HOPI CZ fleet was 95 % compliant with EURO 6 requirements. Since last year, our average our fuel consumption per kilometre had fallen by 2.95 %. The external fleet reduced their consumption per kilometre also by 2.95 % and by 27.61 % per kilogramme transported, while the HOPI CZ fleet experienced only a slight increase of 1.66 % of fuel consumption per kilogramme transported. The total CO2 emissions of HOPI CZ fleet decreased by 2.95 % and of the external fleet by 2.83 %.

WE STRIVE TO FURTHER REDUCE OUR EMISSIONS; THEREFORE, FOR FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS WE SET A NEW KPI OF CO2/TKM ACCORDING TO WTT METHODOLOGY. THIS KPI WILL ALSO BE USED IN OUR DECARBONIZATION PLAN.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS IN ENERGY EFFICIENCY (WAREHOUSES)

Our CZ warehouse portfolio, consisting of 6 warehouses in 4 locations, is an example of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. In this portfolio, with a total storage area of more than 160 000 m2, of which more than 34 600 m2 is chilled or frozen storage, we have achieved a reduction of 13.18 %  n CO2 emissions compared to 2021.

Thanks to the strategic location of our warehouses, we are able to create a basis for the optimization and reduction of emissions.

CSR ENGAGEMENT

HOPI has established a housing facility in Senohraby for its Ukrainian colleagues who have joined through the Qualified Employee program. This facility not only offers a secure place to live but also aims to provide a warm, family - friendly environment. This effort is especially meaningful given the recent challenges these colleagues have faced.
By actively organizing visits and stays for their family members, Hopi emphasizes its people-centric approach. This helps ensure that these employees can find a sense of normalcy and receive emotional support in their new environment, with the cooperation and support of the mayor of Senohraby.
In a gesture of solidarity with our Ukrainian colleagues, who were assisted by HOPI in their relocation to the Czech Republic due to the onset of the Russian-Ukraine conflict in the beginning of 2022, we hosted a special Christmas concert. This event was not just a celebration but a profound affirmation of their place within the HOPI family that showed our unwavering support during these difficult times.

The Ride of the Kings in Vlčnov

Hopi is one of the general partners of The Ride of the Kings in Vlčnov, an UNESCO recognized traditional event that is a part of the Pentecost traditions.

A ceremonial procession where a group of young men ride on adorned horses through a village. They are led by chanters, a young King with a rose in his mouth and pageboys in women’s attire follow, with other riders in male costumes. They pause to recite humorous rhymes, and spectators can give donations. Traditions of this event include: crafting of horse decorations, ceremonial dress by young girls and women that are passed down through generations.
